Certificate of Service Layout Recipe
A certificate of service should look formal, sparse, and credible.
Structure
- Centered title: CERTIFICATE OF SERVICE.
- One text block with measured line length.
- Date line.
- Signature line.
- Optional printed-name line.
Visual rules
- Keep the page quiet. No large callout boxes.
- Use serif for the heading and, when appropriate, for the formal body text.
- Use lines only where the signer fills in name, date, or signature.
- Avoid over-tight line spacing; formal text should breathe.
- If using highlight fields or placeholders in draft view, remove or quiet them in a final version.
Drafting note
The certificate text should match the actual service method, date, and recipient. Do not leave contradictory service language in place.
