Approved MDDS Software

This is the software MDDS has licensed — or can license on request — for engineering, product, and design work. It’s grouped by what each tool is for, so you can find the right one without already knowing its name. The Max licenses column is the seat cap we’re entitled to: entries marked TBD still need the current number from the license register, and tools that aren’t seat-licensed (open source, usage-based, or free) say that instead of a count.

It’s the internal companion to the DoIT-cleared inventory — that list is everything cleared for use across Maryland; this one is the working stack we actually run and pay for.

Requesting access or a new tool

Need a seat on something here, or a tool that isn’t on the list? Route it through engineering intake — that’s the front door for a license request, the same as any other engineering need. A tool that isn’t already cleared also has to pass MDDS review before we can buy it; the DoIT-cleared inventory shows what’s already cleared, and Procurement 101 covers how buying lanes work when something genuinely new is needed.

Keeping this current

License counts and the tool list both drift. Re-verify the Max licenses column against the license register on a regular cadence — quarterly is a sensible default — and when a tool is retired or adopted, update this page in the same change so it never silently goes stale.
